Canadian Christian singer/songwriter Elizabeth Deveau was born and raised in Annapolis Royal in the Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia and has an extensive background in mainstream music. Prior to coming to personally know Christ in 1999, Elizabeth had been a professional singer/songwriter, with several Country and Bluegrass Gospel recording projects to her credit. In 1989, she released a solo country album entitled Forever Through the Years. In 1990, she was joined by her three children Derrick, Erin and John, along with their father James, and together they formed a very successful family contemporary bluegrass band called 'The Shepherd Family'. The Shepherd Family toured extensively throughout Eastern Canada and Eastern United States from 1992 to 1999. As a family, they released two successful recording projects, the first entitled Side By Side in 1995 and the last, released in May of 1999, entitled Freshly Cut Grass. However, with her oldest two children growing up and moving on to college and a career, it was evident that the era of the family band was over. As a new Christian, it was immediately clear to her why God had blessed her with the gift of music, realizing that there was a higher calling for her God-given gifts. In January of 2000 Elizabeth began writing songs about Christ and has shared the Gospel of Jesus Christ ever since through her music ministry. In Fall 2006, Elizabeth released her debut Christian CD entitled Living Waters, featuring 12 original songs that relate her personal and living faith in Jesus Christ and the truth of His salvation. Living Waters is an uplifting and encouraging collection of vibrant contemporary songs that inspire a deeper relationship with God. The first two singles released from Living Waters received National and International airplay on Christian radio, resulting in five nominations in the 2007 Canadian Gospel Music Maja Awards. Nomination categories included: Song of the Year for Take Away the Stone; Contemporary Recording of the Year; Female Artist of the Year, Southern Gospel Performer of the Year and People's Choice Artiste of the Year. Elizabeth was featured as a performing artist at the Canadian Gospel Music Gala Awards night in Toronto on August 25th, and brought home two Awards to include "Southern Gospel Performer of the Year" and the most prestigious award, "People's Choice Artiste of the Year". Elizabeth has recently received a 2007 MIANS (Music Industry Association of Nova Scotia) awards nomination in the category of Inspirational Artist/Recording of the Year. In August, two new singles from her CD "Living Waters" were been released to International Christian Radio including Talk to Him and Oh Perfect One both receiving international airplay. Watch for her new Christmas single "The Cry", scheduled for release November 1, 2007.
