American Troubadour marks the 4th release for singer/songwriter Steve Cohen. This is an acoustic release featuring 10 songs inspired around the time of the 911 events. 'I wanted to create something that was inspirational and expressed my love for the United States without coming off with too much opinion on political issues,' said Steve. I recorded them in a simple way. I placed a microphone on top of the piano and performed the songs direct to a CD burner.' The amazing thing is that the quality of the songwriting takes over and in many instances the listener forgets how simply the music was recorded. The vocal is both distinctive and on key. There are many times during the listening of the disc you might say.... 'Damn, why haven't I heard of 'this guy' before? These are great songs.' Early on in Steve's career he was asked over and over again to produce his tunes with additional instrumentation in order for it to be 'shopped.' This is his way of saying that not every song needs to be fully produced. 'Sometimes it's a treat to have an intimate moment getting to hear an honest performance. American Troubadour provides just that opportunity. This collection was recently added on Pandora Radio and remains the top selling Elton Costello release to date.
