Eran began playing the guitar at the age of 11, just a year after arriving in Massachusetts from Israel, where he was born. By the time he moved to Portland, Oregon at age 15, music had become more than just a hobby. After three years of jazz guitar studies in Los Angeles, Eran resettled in Portland to pursue his career as a musician. His varied tastes and writing styles mimic the diversity of his background. His songwriting draws on influences ranging from The Beatles to Radiohead, Elliott Smith to Pat Metheny. Combining inherent curiosity with versatility, Eran absorbs elements from the musics he encounters while consistently maintaining his own voice. Supported by a strong and clear sense of form, his singable tunes balance unique phrasing and harmonies. The result is a sound that is strangely familiar yet unmistakably all his own. Eran approaches songwriting as a problem-solving process, always searching for new ways to get from beginning to inevitable end. With bandmates Kyle Owen, Brett McConnell and Allie Silverberg, along with other contributors, he's exploring different perspectives and finding new paths of composition. Ebb & Flow Locked up in a beach house for 10 days, Eran Schweitzer took the first step toward his debut album, Ebb & Flow, recording about 30 of his songs written over the span of 8 years. This first phase evolved into a crash course in self-production as fellow musicians were brought in to complete the tracks selected for the album. The final product is as accessible as it is unique, transitioning fluidly through varied moods and arrangements. With his debut, Eran crosses the boundaries of definition and greets the listener with a generous helping of his personality.
