Eric Clemenzi is a Massachusetts based guitarist. He currently performs with the acoustic guitar duo Kangaralien and the prog-metal group Storms Approach. Basement Tapes is Eric's first official solo album. The album is a mix of several projects. Tracks 1-5 on the disc are all solo material, written and arranged at his home studio using Cubase recording software. All of the drum machine tracks from the demo versions were later replaced by Chris Munroe on drums. Track 6 is an intermission of sorts, taking a break from the heaviness and opting for a more jazz-based sound. The track is a tune written by Kangaralien and performed by Eric on guitar, Steve Belleville on bass, David Newsam on guitar, and Rick Kress on drums. Tracks 7-10 on the album feature Eric's old band, Quandary. All of the tracks were written and arranged by the band and feature Eric on guitar, Steve Belleville on bass, Brian Packer on guitar, and Chris Munroe on drums. This portion of the disc features rather long instrumental selections, ranging from 6 minutes to around 10 minutes, with very strong progressive elements (lots of meter and tempo changes). The final track on the album is another "solo" track, once again written on Cubase. The track feature Eric on acoustic and electric guitars, Tim LaFredo on drums, and Steve Belleville on bass.
