Beating of the Start
Each individual in Eve's Dilemma brings their own flair to the band's sound, making their collective mark on band singer-songwriter Sam Leach's original creations. The result could be compared to a combination of styles from bands as diverse as R.E.M., Arcade Fire and the Decemberists, with Leach's vocals sharing similarities with the likes of Smashing Pumpkins' Billy Corgan and Counting Crows\' Adam Duritz. But just the same, Eve's Dilemma delivers a sound that is uniquely their own. Sam Leach merged with Joe Solis and his hard-rocking drumming style to form half of the first incarnation of Eve's Dilemma in 2002. While the original lead guitar and bass players have moved on, classically-trained violinist and background vocalist Heather Torain, former drums 'n' bass beats bass guitarist Tom Finch, and chameleon keyboardist/instrumentalist Cooper Harless have meanwhile helped the band round the corner from Eve's' former guitar-driven rock to more of an edgy indie-folk-rock sound. The evolution continues to unfold as the band continues to experiment with instrumentation, texture, and time signatures, uncovering more talent along the way. Their most recent additions are layered vocal harmonies, odd instruments, and new song-writing skills, all provided by Harless. Their hometowns span the continental United States, more than half of this band can play more than one instrument, and their preferred musical tastes are not always in agreement, but there is enough overlap in this band to make for a great musical partnership.
