I Wanna Be at the Beach
The Fabulous Shades are based out of Greenville, SC. Terry Robinson, Dana Jones and Rick Campbell have been playing together for over 35 years. Raised on Rock N Roll and seeking every opportunity possible to entertain, They formed The Fabulous Shades in The early 1980\'s. Three guys that cut their teeth on everything from Grand Funk Railroad to the Tempting Temptations, Elvis, Chairmen of the Board and tons of Beach Music, Rock and Roll, Soul and even a little country. We love MUSIC! No place was too small or too big for tfs. We\'ve done a lot of shows over the years and made a ton of awesome friends along the way. Going through the list of other performers within the group, We start out with Mike \'Mic Mac\' McMurray, He was our original drummer and has now become our full time percussionist, Dan \'Tutt\' Kidd joined the group in 1993 as our drummer and between Dan and \'Mic Mac\', It just can\'t get any tighter. These guys are like twins! Other members include Rich \'Fanghanger\' Parlier on Trumpet and Vocals for over 19 years now. Rich also co- produced the \'I Wanna Be At The Beach\' project along with Dana. He is also currently co-producing the upcoming project \'Made In The Shade\' featuring the new song \'Shaggin\' Man\'. \'General Dee\' Reynolds plays keyboards for tfs and has also been recording with the band for over 3 years now. Also helping out at the studio on the \'IWBATB\' project was Bobby Simmons who played keyboards on \'Never Ending\' and \'Just My Imagintion\' adding some awesome parts and was a great help with entire project by just showing interest and being there giving some great advice. Thanks, Bobby! Also Kevin Hawkins on Saxaphones has been with tfs off and on for over 12 years and has also helped out with many of the current recordings. Bruce Caldwell has also contributed a lot of years to tfs with his awesome talent on Saxaphones. Bruce can be heard on \'Oh What A Night\'and \'Never Ending\' with very slick leads and on the entire \'IWBATB\' project throughout. Bruce has also nailed it again with his killer style on the latest cut of \'Shaggin\' Man\'. Greg Day plays trumpet for us and did the horns arrangements for \'Shaggin\' Man\'. Greg has the talent for being very hard to follow both on the stage and with his charting abilities. Now recording under the one20inc. Record label, Things have gotten very busy and tons more fun. \'I Wanna Be at At The Beach\' written by Greenville\'s own Mills Owens was released in the spring of 2004 and things just took off charting as high as #1 on Bill Beason\'s Super CFL in Tennesee, #1 on Pat Patterson\'s Sunny Beach Party out of Greenwood, SC, #1 on The Surf in N. Myrtle Beach and has been inducted into The Surf Top 40 Hall Of Fame!! It also hit #5 on The Sunny Beach Show with Sunny Beach and Tom Stanley. It has also charted on The Top 40 Countdown with \'Fessa\' John Hook. Also charting from this project is \'Never Ending\'at #4 and \'Ain\'t No Big Thing at #12 on Pat Patterson\'s Sunny Beach Party on FM 103.5. Another great thing for the \'IWBATB\' project has been the over 2 years on \'Willie C\'s\' Top 50 chart with the title cut and over a year with \'Don\'t Let The Green Grass Fool Ya\' from the same project. The CD by the same name has 10 songs, All of which have had airplay and now the new Pre-release single \'Shaggin\' Man\' from the upcoming project called \'Made In The Shade\' is getting tons of airplay from FM 94.9 The Surf in N. Myrtle Beach, Sunny 103.5 FM in Greenwood, SC, Bill Beason\'s Super CFL, Butch Halpin\'s Carolina Beach Show and The Endless Summer Network and many others and is charting after only a couple of weeks at #2 on Pivots Beach Club chart, #5 on Bill McIver\'s O.D. Road Show in Greensboro, #14 on Bill Beason\'s Super CFL in TN, #3 on Pat Patterson\'s chart, #6 on The Sunny Beach Show with Sunny and Tom, and #19 on Frank Price\'s chart in Rock Hill after only being released for a few weeks. Bill Ballard of \'Ocean Drive Sunday\' fame wrote the lyrics and gave us an idea of how he thought it should go and basically gave us the poetic license to let her eat! After just a couple of nights in the studio at Mountain Rock Music with engineer Larry Pope at the wheel, We knew we had another great song and could not wait for the folks to hear it! So far, So good. Well, If you read all the way down to this point, You are a fan of tfs and for that we thank you. We are, as always looking forward to the live shows in the coming months.
