Femme Fest 2 / Various
The Femme Fest 2 CD offers a collection of live recordings from some of the best female-fronted punk and hard rock bands in the Midwest. Most tracks were recorded at the titular festival, held April 3rd, 2004 at The Club Soda in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Flirt - Legendary Detroit rockers who first achieved prominence during punk's heyday playing throughout the country alongside artists like Patti Smith and Devo. Led by vocal powerhouse Rockee Berlin, Flirt blurs the line between punk, new-wave, and rock 'n roll with it's explosive compositions. BLAMMO! - Ann Arbor's best hardcore punk band! A bruising mix of buzz saw guitars, a furious rhythm section, and commanding vocals, courtesy of Claire Voyant and Jane Reaction, BLAMMO! Recalls the best moments of X and Black Flag. Melt - Think Blondie meets Bauhaus. Melt offers an eclectic mix of music that will satiate popsters, punkers rockers and retro-freaks. Vocalist Heather Jach proves to have a very dynamic range in her voice, helping the band comfortably dabble within strains of several different genres. Ginger Fig - Incorporating the best of rock, goth, metal & punk with pop sensibility, Ginger Fig creates a unique blend of energetic rock music. This sound, combined with their well-known, powerful live performances, has already earned Ginger Fig a reputation as one of Western Michigan's most original and entertaining rock groups. Ettison Clio - Hailing from East Lansing, Michigan, Ettison Clio is a frenetic five-piece indie rock band in the vein of At the Drive In. Having toured extensively and sold over 2,000 copies of their Fragile Simplistic EP, Ettison Clio is quickly becoming one of the most popular indie acts in the Midwest.
