Let It Go
Fishing with Dynamite is a Country and Southern Rock five piece band out of northeast Georgia. Two of the original members Kelley Mayhue and Jimmy Hughes were saddened when another original member James Quill Smith "Smitty" had a stroke in the mid summer of 2007. Smitty has been a phenomenal lead guitar player for decades and has toured with Three Dog Night, John Mayall, Dr. John, Dobie Gray, Roger McGuinn and many others. If you have the time, please google "James Quill Smith" and review his fantastic career! Smitty is loved and missed by the band and fans alike. We all pray for the progress that he is continuing to make! Jim Watson was asked to join the band after Smitty's sudden departure and has added another dynamic to the group. With his love for classic rock, southern rock, both old and new country, he is a very versatile musician and singer. He primarily plays bass, but also plays acoustic and lead guitar. Kelley Mayhue is a musician and singer with a love for traditional country, gospel, southern rock and you name it. He plays acoustic, lead guitar and also mandolin on occasion. The thing that sets this group apart from other bands is that at any performance they can split singing duties up three ways and give the audience a variety instead of just the same old thing. Jay Hefner and Jimmy have known each other and been friends for many years. Jay's father John and Jimmy's father Ronnie were the best of friends for many many years. We are sorry to say that Jay and his family lost John in 2008. Johnny Hefner was a decorated Veteran of the Vietnam War and was a good man and friend. He is dearly missed by all! We think that he may have put a request up in Heaven that Jay get reunited with his friends, thanks John! Look for Jay to join in at any given gig! Elden Kasmier has been drumming for over twenty five years and has been in Georgia for nearly a year and a half. He has been on the road playing before and has played various venues in the States. He mainly has a rock 'n roll background which gives the band another dynamic. Fishing With Dynamite can play many different styles of songs and Elden fits in well! Jimmy Hughes grew up with his friend Kelley Mayhue in Gwinnett County, Georgia where they attended school together from first grade through high school. He has been writing music for years and owes Kelley for getting him interested. Jimmy says, "It's a God given blessing to write and on top of that, it's therapy." You can hear his love for music and the therapy it gives in the heartfelt words of his songs - some lyrics are funny, some sarcastic and some are quite serious - telling it like it is! In addition to singing, he enjoys playing rhythm guitar, and the harmonica. Jimmy has had demos in Nashville and has enjoyed some circulation with them, but he recently decided "if no one else can make it happen then why not do it ourselves!" He went into the studio back in September of 2008. All of the songs to be released on the new Fishing with Dynamite album, "Let it Go", were both lyrically and musically written by him. The CD release Party was February 7, 2009 and it was a great night! We would like it known that of every CD sold, a portion of the proceeds will be donated directly to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. This band's goal is to help those in need and touch people with their music in the process. Please give this group your attention... you won't be sorry! As Fishing with Dynamite always says, "we love ya and we need ya!" Thank you for your support!
