'They're unbelievable! This new CD sounds amazing and the new songs are truly accomplished!' -Neil Novotny, Program Director of Mix 105 An award winning performance and acclaimed music aren't the only things that make Flavor stand apart from so many other musical acts. It's their strong, eclectic songwriting with pop-sensible hooks delivered in a Rock and Roll package. Their music is laced with funky hooks in the spirit of Lenny Kravitz & Maroon 5 with soulful vocals that have been compared to Jeff Buckley & Prince and musicianship reminiscent of Dave Mathews & The Red Hot Chili Peppers. Of course awards don't hurt... Their unique but catchy style earned their sophomore album, 'Red,' the title of 'Best Rock Album' by the 2003 MN Music Awards and made them winners of a 2002 NARAS/Grammy Songwriting Contest. Their energetic performance has earned them 2 other MN Music Award nominations; 'Best New Band' in 2002 & 'Best Rock Band' in 2003. They were chosen to open for Jonny Lang and many other national acts including Little Feat, Dada, & The Nadas. In 2002 they won the KQRS Homegrown Contest, the Jim Beam Band of the Week Contest, and the Best Band Competition at the University of St. Scholastica. Flavor has released 2 Full-length Studio albums and 2 EPs since their inception 2 years ago and show no sign of slowing their recording down. Singer/songwriter & multi-instrumentalist Wade Linkert took an unconventional approach to starting the band, forming the group after recording it's self-titled debut CD on his own in 2001. Armed with a large catalog of Wade's personal yet universal songs, Flavor was taken to the stage shortly after with the addition of three other seasoned musicians; Ben Shaffer, Austin Dingus, & Alex Moreno. Soon after starting to play live, the quartet immediately began winning over audiences at a number of the premier music venues in and around their hometown of Minneapolis while their music has been added to the play lists of many radio stations throughout the Midwest.
