Product Notes

Forgotten Works has been making energetic acoustic music since the winter of 2005. As an acoustic duo from Eugene, OR, visual artist David Norem and audio engineer Dan Reyhle strive to create music with origin. This is done through meaningfully written songs and improvisational live performances. In their 3 years as a group, Forgotten Works has played shows all over Oregon, shared the stage with other high-powered acts like Split Lip Rayfield and Hillstomp, and worked up three official CD releases. The band prides themselves on handcrafted songs and an "in the moment" musical energy that lights their live shows a-blaze. Concerts and CD releases are almost always accompanied by stunning and relevant visual art such as paintings, video and sculptures, all hand-made in Eugene. "a stellar musical comraderie" -Eugene Weekly 11/07 'The Key' is Forgotten Works' second full-length effort, and it shows the band experimenting with darker tones and acoustic spaces. The album displays a group becoming more comfortable with itself, and it seems that the songs are more up-close-and-personal than on their debut, 'Last Days'. There's the roots-anthem 'Find What You Seek' bringing home that trademark Forgotten Works front-porch energy, and also songs like 'Gold', which is a mid-record jazz treat blanketed in soft sonic bliss. 'The Bridge' is a song that seems to point a finger at where this group is heading, as the somber vocal harmonies leading into a grungy mess of guitar riffing will tell you that they are not holding much back. 'Only You', a standout track featuring Eugene percussionist Pat Reyhle, is an intensely played love song with a monstrous dynamic peak adding yet another flavor to the album. 'The Key' was produced by Forgotten Works in Eugene, Oregon and released in March 2009.
