From Motown to Miles! This CD is dedicated to some of the artists from the 60s, 70s, and 80s who enriched and influenced our lives and our listening. This recording was produced similar to the way records were produced in those days. We used real musicians, playing real instruments, and vocalists who sing real notes. Fortune Vinson Cruse serves up their internationally recognized smooth jazz sound with fellow instrumentalists Lynne Riley on saxophones, Jeff Lee Johnson and Shawn Q on guitars. Michael Jenkins uses his wide singing range (from falsetto 1st tenor to baritone) to recapture the vocal stylings of Eddie Kendricks (Can I), and Oscar Brown Jr. (Jeannine). Paula Jones warmly blends her classically rooted, jazz stylized vocals on warm renditions of Sammy Cahn's You Taught My Heart To Sing, and Carol King's Natural Woman. This recording was made with the fun and memories of a time of great musical creativity. This CD was also made in grateful appreciation of the artists who helped shape our music and our minds. Enjoy!
