Fruit: Sam Lohs : 6 Degrees
Sam Lohs - solo Melbourne based Sam Lohs has been a lead member of the internationally acclaimed and fiercely independent outfit, Fruit, who have recently celebrated their 11 year anniversary as one of Australia's most popular touring acts. As a lead singer, guitarist and songwriter, Sam also performs solo and has recently released her highly anticipated (and very beautiful) second solo album, 'We Trip Over Things', a fine addition to her first release, the gutsy '6 degrees'. Sam's stunning song writing and delivery is poignant, hilarious and engaging and is reminiscent of Joni Mitchell &Ani DiFranco. Sam and Fruit are strumming proof that you don't need a hit TV series or serious multinational dollars to succeed. Like fellow troubadours The Waifs, John Butler and Ani DiFranco, Adelaide-born Fruit have taken the road less travelled, covering millions of miles and playing thousands of shows since 1996, raising roofs and winning converts across 7 countries. In 2003 Fruit won the 'Best Live Album' trophy at the Australian Live Music Awards. Over the years, Sam & Fruit have shared stages with the likes of Jewel, Chris Isaak, The Indigo Girls and many more. They have won over punters, Selling out rooms and smashing CD sales records at Festivals across Canada and in more than 30 US states.
