FULC BIOGRAPHY FULC play scuzzy edgy hard rock with a melodic twist - the perfect 'wake me up' antidote to the bland uninspired music being pedalled around in the new millennium. The line up of Duane Walker (23) Lead Vocals, Guitar - Rik Clay (21) Lead Guitar, Backing Vocals - Mark Kook (22) Drums - Kris Kilmore (23) Bass Guitar - sees FULC rapidly becoming renowned for their livewire stage shows, which mix full on headline dates with national support slots for the likes of Kinesis and Martin Grech amongst others. With over 180 live shows in the UK in 2002-2003 the band have a work ethic that is mindblowing. The bands first 4 track EP 'The Fallen' was released in September 2002 to much critical acclaim and never ones to stand still FULC released their debut album 'Biting Insomnia' on June 23rd 2003 on Stunted Records, a KKKK review in Kerrang followed, with Metal Hammer and Powerplay magazines both passing comment on the quality of FULC's song writing as one of the UK's brightest hopes. Kerrang described the band as 'one of the most vibrantly inventive young bands in the UK today - it's refreshing to come across a band that doesn't want to fit in ' and 'A tidy package of real song writing ability and sweaty grunge-metal attitude - FULC have a vision and talent far too large and varied to be cramped by such a small stage' Featured on BBC Radio 1 One Music FULC were no.1 in the 'Lock Up' chart for 6 months and play listed on Radio One in July 2003. FULC were personally selected by Mary Anne Hobbs to perform at a Radio One Rock Show event in Leeds in June 2003. Mike Davies ( R1 DJ ) described FULC's track 'Nest' as :- 'Fantastic, Fulc have got subtlety down to a fine art, Nest rocks in all the right places without thrusting itself in your face. This is both melodic and bowel shakingly heavy and will have rock fans creaming themselves to catch them perform live ' Citing many influences from Muse to Nine Inch Nails, but sounding like none, the bands style has been described as 'taking grunge, punk and metal, sticking them in a furnace until they're white hot and then hammered into exciting new shapes....'. Rik, the lead guitarist for the band states 'A lot of people who have seen us say we sound like many different bands, but whatever they suggest they will not do us justice, we feel we have our own sound and don't try to fit into any bag, we play music we like' On writing songs Rik points out it's a group effort, the music comes first then Duane lays down the lyrics', lyrics which cagey front man Duane prefers you to put your own interpretation on because, like the name FULC, the meaning behind them are a closely guarded secret.
