Hung on a Blonde Ponytail
G.Starr, the Philly-based rock artist who concieved the musical play "Hung On A Blonde Ponytail" (An Act Of Rock), will celebrate the debut release of the CD soundtrack with a party and live performance of the music on Friday February 24th, 8:30pm at Society Hill Playhouse, 507 South 8th Street, Philadelphia. Greg DeCandia, a.k.a. G.Starr, composed the nine songs comprising "Hung..." with his cohort/guitarist Joe Horack a.k.a. Saint Joe, and a theatrical premier of the musical play was performed at the Philly Fringe/LiveArts Festival in September 2005 to unanimously positive reviews. With G.Starr on lead vocals and Saint Joe on guitar, the soundtrack CD was produced by award-winning composer Eric Vincent at Vincent's Curve Dominant Sound+Vision recording lab. The CD also features original Philly artist Naeemah on harmony vocals (Naeemah's own debut CD "Hard Time" released in January 2006), as well as guitar solos by former Godsmack guitarist Kurt Schneck. "Hung On A Blonde Ponytail" follows the unfolding conflict between two fellow musicians who are creatively inspired by their competing love for a woman - The Muse. While immersed in this emotional drama, they combine their talents in the goal of producing a work of musical immortality, and eventually discover how ultimate acts of love and art can require the ultimate sacrifice. The live band currently performing this music in venues around Philadelphia consists of G.Starr, Saint Joe, John Glaubitz (guitar), Chris St. Angelo (drums), and Eric Vincent (bass), with Naeemah making occasional guest appearances on backing vocals. G.Starr is no stranger to the stage, having played the title role in Jesus Christ Superstar, leading roles in Glangarry Glen Ross, The Rocky Horror Show, and was part of the cast of the 1st National tour of RENT.
