The Games of Scholars is a concept album written by Jesse Lang. It pulls influence from progressive rock bands such as Ayreon, Magellan and Shadow Gallery. The album features theater vocalists Michael Kaup, Brandon Ghislain and Arwen Fonzen, and all instruments by Jesse Lang. Track Descriptions: 1. 'Black and White' is an introduction to the album that gives the listener an idea of the concept, while meditating them into the full experience. 2. 'The Dream' is pre-war. Caught in a dry desolate world, a man's destiny is placed before him, now he knows what must be done... 3. 'Colors That Bleed' Part I: The Recruiter displays a character that embodies the military and Part II: General Brane's Manufacturing Co. Is an instrumental trip through the breakdown and rebuilding of a person. 4. 'Pharaoh' is a head to head approaching of two opposing sides, ready for battle. 5. 'e4,e5' is an instrumental dialogue of oppression and battle...the war is on. 6. 'Ghosts on the Battlefield' is a simple statement on the outcome of war. 7. 'A Time for Reformation' is an optimistic approach to war. It is about realization and aspiring for the better. 8. 'To be Continued...' is a closing statement on the subject.
