"Sounds like two covered wagons in a head-on collision!" -The Neighbors If you like country, bluegrass and raw rock n' roll, come on in and have a drink. A trio comprised of guitar (Sewer Rat aka Gordo), banjo (Yukon Jimijon) and upright bass (Chicken Dinner), GCDC's songs have a way of getting inside your head and sticking there for months. That being said, GCDC is anything but your run-of-the-mill acoustic act. Moving effortlessly between surf-inspired instrumentals (Surfin' The Soybeans), irreverent fist-raising anthems (Gawd Dam), screaming diesel tunes (Burn) and melodic hooks (You Ain't You), this album showcases the band's wide variety of influences. Recorded by Mike West at his 9th Ward Pickin' Parlor in Lawrence, Kansas, the album features a few special guests that help round out the sound; Mike West picks the mandolin, Billy Spears wails on fiddle, E minor blows harp, Violinifer makes things all purdy and Jim Bones plays the spoons. The band had a lot of fun recording this album and it shows...in fact, it's so good that you're gonna need at least five copies for your ma and them.
