Gene Viale the Early Years
Gene Viale has been known to the African American Gospel audience for over forty years. In 1964, At the age of 17,Gene was brought to a national audience by the Rev. James Cleveland,as one of the legendary, James Cleveland Singers.Touring the nation, together with Rev. Cleveland-Odessa McCastle, Roger Roberts and later..Clyde Brown with Charles Barnett at the piano.During a time in our country when the southern states where still practicing segregation.. Gene has been featured on eight albums to date, to include two with the Rev.Cleveland and the Cleveland Singers \' Heaven That Will Be Good Enough\' Savoy label (the second album has never been released), as guest artist on \'He Ain\'t Heavy He\'s My Brother\' Cassietta George \'Live\', At the Jerusalem Church Of God In Christ. Gene is the featured artist on \'The Only Hope\' (LIVE)CD together with the renowned Miss Cassietta George (singing \'Walk Around Heaven\') of the famous Caravans, a Secret records/Light records release.You may see him in performance as a young artist,on a number of TV appearances - as part of the Jubilee Showcase video archives (one show to include Gospel\'s Queen Albertina Walker and Gene singing a duet)available at the Harold Washington Library- in Chicago Illinois. He is also a featured artist on the video entitled \'Cassietta George 48 Years Of Gospel\',videoed for (B.E.T NET WORK) the Bobby Jones Show at Miss George\'s home church, Praises Of Zion Baptist in L.A. Minister James Herndon (for a number of years the pianist and a principal writer for the legendary Caravans),Miss Margaret Akins (a frequent writer for Mahalia Jackson) and hymnests,Lois Irwin and Charles Tinley.The world famous Billy Preston and D. James Cleveland and the Angelic Choir..during the time when Gene was one of the now Legendary James Cleveland Singers.
