I'm on My Way
Gerald Hinton, born in Apex, NC, is one of eight children and the only male out of three that is able to hear and talk. At the age of six he began singing at St. Mary's FWB Church and when twelve became the lead singer for Howard Thomas and the Pearly Gates. They performed acapella on live radio for several years. After experiencing theater in high school, he attended Shaw University and majored in Drama with a minor in Music. His musical tastes and abilities crossed over into R&B and he joined The Liberators. However his gospel roots called and he returned home to direct several choirs in the area. Hinton later began singing with Johnny Holloway and the Gospel Jubilees, which led to the creation of his own group, Gerald Hinton and the New Redeemers, and his first CD, From Way Back. Their sophomore release, Groom Me produced the hit video, It's Me Oh Lord, which aired on BET, the Word Network, and other national and local television outlets. Hinton has worked with many legendaries, including The Jackson Southernaires, Shirley Caesar, John P. Kee, The Mighty Clouds of Joy, and Lee Williams and the Spiritual QC's to name a few. He has also collaborated with producers Willie Hill, Craig Woolard (former lead singer of the Embers),Denver Wright, and Robert Young. In 2003 the group released You Don't Know How Blessed You Are. After receiving much acclaim with the group, Hinton decided to branch out on his own, and has released two solo projects, Christmas With Gerald Hinton (December 2008), and I'm On My Way. I'm On My Way includes a single featuring 11-time Grammy winning artist Pastor Shirley Caesar, and promises to deliver something for everyone.
