Mattituck, N.Y.-based singer/songwriter Glenn Jochum's honey-over-gravel voice adroitly tackles many genres, easily morphing from folk to soul to rock to blues to country, delivering lyrics that come straight from the heart. A poet, former sailor, and scribe, Jochum draws on a lifetime of experience as he sings about the nature of love and his love of nature. Sometimes dabbing at the musical canvas with an impressionistic brush, Jochum calls upon his journalistic background to record the details of his travels from his Navy days in the Far East, South America, and Europe, and personal trips to Alaska, Ireland, Nova Scotia, and Costa Rica. This is his fourth CD. It's predecessors included On the Beach (1999), Nasty Weather (2003), and My Vacation (2006). Glenn also performs in a classic rock cover band (Inner Sleeve) and in a folk-rock duo with Rick Hall (Earthtones). Glenn's sister Beth co-produced and played all guitars on Shelter Me and sang back-up vocals. Her music is available on Beth Jochum.com. Members of her former band, Begonia, Brenda Fisher (bass, harmonica, vocals) and Jude Klucitas (drums, percussion), helped round out the core group of Shelter Me.
