Dust Bowl Lover
The Gravy Boys play Acoustic Americana Music. The Gravy Boys perform songs that draw on our rich heritage of American music: From depression-era folk music such as Jimmie Rodgers and the Carter Family; to the high-lonesome sound of the Louvin Brothers; to honky-tonk era country music such as Hank Williams, Lefty Frizzel, George Jones and Merle Haggard; to 60's era folk-country-rock such as Bob Dylan and The Band; to contemporary alt-country and singer-songwriters such as Whiskeytown, Son Volt, Steve Earle, Ryan Adams and John Hiatt. The Gravy Boys perform with acoustic guitars, mandolin, upright bass, harmonica and dobro. They circle around one microphone to sing sweet 2, 3 and 4 part-harmonies with soul, passion and an excitement that captures the fancy and attention of all who listen. 'Dust Bowl Lover' is the bands' second album of all-original music. Featuring rich harmony, catchy melodies and thoughtful lyrics, the Gravy Boys have captured the spirit of depression era folk music, early brother-duet country, honky-tonk swing, as well as modern alt-country. Produced by John Plymale (Squirrel Nut Zippers, Superchunk, etc.), the 5 piece band is rounded out on this record with Bobby Britt (Open Road, Big Fat Gap) on fiddle, Chandler Holt (Chatham County Line) on banjo, pedal steel guitar from Allyn Love (Thad Cockerell, Steve Howell Band), and trombone from Andy Kleindienst (Oquestra Gar Del).
