Chicken Hawk Soup
1) CHICKEN HAWK - What is a Chicken Hawk? A Chicken Hawk is a man in power, who, when it's time to decide whether or not to go to war makes noise like a hawk: 'Send in the troops!'. But when he was younger, and it was his time to serve, he ran like chicken. This song was inspired by a Democrat senator whom I saw on TV making a speech on the floor of the U.S. senate, with a southern drawl, and a cartoon character of a chicken hawk on an eisel next to him. It was when they were debating whether or not to go to war in Iraq. He was refering to George W., Dick Cheney, and Donald Rumsfeld. He said 'Ladies and Gentlemen of the senate, this a Chiken Hawk. Now that it's time to decide whether or not to go to war he's making all kinds of noise like a hawk but when he was younger and it was his time to serve he ran like chicken!' 2) I'M BEING FOLLOWED BY THE C.I.A. - Inspired by the fact that Cat Stevens (AKA Yusaf Islam)was on a C.I.A. terrorist watch list a few years ago. He got off a plane in the United States and was arrested. True story, believe it or not. 3) 50 WAYS TO INCREASE THE DEFICIT - I rewrote the lyrics to Paul Simon's 'Fifty ways to Leave Your Lover'. George W. and the republican party are leading the country right over the edge of a cliff. The republican party used to believe in less taxes and less government spending. The republican party today cuts taxes and INCREASES government spending. The counrty is headed for a financial meltdown. God help us. 4) THE BALLAD OF GEORGE W. - I rewrote the lyrics to the war protest song that Country Joe McDonald played at Woodstock: 'Fixin' to Die Rag' (One, two, three, what are we fighting for.....). I updated the lyrics for the war in Iraq.
