Speaking in Haiku
Hanabi was created in late 2004 by two singer songwriters from Brisbane, Australia. After being heavily involved in the scene in their separate projects, their love of various styles of music brought them together. Drawing from influences ranging from electronic to acoustic, combining girl/guy vocal harmonies with driving acoustic guitar and melodic orchestral undertones. The duo travelled through North and South America, gethering inspiration, busking on street corners and performing in music hubs inbetween snow-boarding and trekking Machu Pichu. Their return to Australia saw Hanabi grow to a 5 piece adding to the musical layering, from twinkly piano to jangly guitar, trumpet, sax, glockenspiel, bass and percussion. They recorded their debut album 'Speaking in Haiku' which was released in March 2007 and continue to create fireworks in the indie scene with recent performances at The Valley Fiesta and The Big Sound Music Summit. Their debut release 'Speaking in Haiku' is out now through Take Luck Records.
