From the moment of the first note, to the jam-session ending, this CD packs a powerful expression of faith and praise. Each song, carefully selected, presents a story of the group's testimony and personal witness. The harmonies are wonderful, and the song choices are awesome. But go a little deeper than just what you hear. Listen to the true message of this entire CD. We're welcomed at the start, and then we're given a testimony of God's surpassing greatness. We're literally taken into the presence of Jehovah, asked to count our blessings, and allowed to dream big with splendid pictures of our Creator King. When most of us would want to wrap with I'll Fly Away, they stick it right in the middle of the CD and close with a wonderfully rich arrangement of All People That On Earth Do Dwell. For what seems like such a short time from beginning to the end, a person can really catch a glimpse of our Savior, His majesty and the glory of His Name in listening to the CD. When can we look for original music from this group? I don't know what answer that question will provide, but I know this: Harbinger rivals a lot of up and coming music groups out there today - give them their own tracks, and there will most definitely be another space on the shelf at Christian bookstores all across the country. Here's to a really great first CD, and a prayer for the next one to follow. If you're wondering whether or not to buy this one, then you need not think any longer...just open up the wallet and buy 2 or 3 or 5 or 10. Give them away as gifts...you'll be the best gift-giver this year. Harbinger BUY IT! Who is Harbinger? The word, Harbinger is defined as a 'forerunner, herald, or messenger.' It's a person or thing that tells of something yet to come. The group, Harbinger consists of three individuals, Laura McReynolds Hickham, Marcy Crosby and Dave Schaller. Dave and Marcy have enjoyed singing together at church for several years, but it didn't all gel until Laura joined choir a couple of years ago. The three of them became an official 'group' in October, 2003 when the Spirit's prompting led them to form Harbinger. They occasionally have the privilege of leading worship together at St. John Lutheran in Ellisville, Missouri, their home church. Harbinger currently sings at various coffee houses around St. Louis, and at select private functions. They've participated in the St. Louis Women's Show at America's Center in St. Louis, Mosaic Fest at Our Lady of the Snows in Belleville, IL and the Final For Him Event during the Final Four Basketball Tournament last winter on Laclede's Landing in St. Louis. The diverse musical backgrounds and tastes of Harbinger have resulted in an eclectic mix. They favor the 'tight' three-part harmonies that are found in the music of The Martins, Phillips, Craig and Dean, and Point of Grace. The CD, titled Harbinger, consists of twelve cuts and covers a wide variety of musical tastes. Marcy Crosby is a native of St. Louis, Dave Schaller is originally from La Crosse, Wisconsin, and Laura McReynolds Hickham was raised in Gulfport, Mississippi.
