Green Flats Road
In 1993 Harvey Band released their first CD titled Crossfire. The band from Rochester, New York included Harvey Possemato on guitars, banjo, harmonica and percussion, Paul Hammerick on drums, Keith Laurier on bass and Gary Guth on violin, guitar and keyboards. With this new 2002 release, Green Flats Road, Harvey Band turns to acoustic music. Green Flats Road is a beautiful country setting on a river in the Catskill Mountains. It is also the site of the long forgotten New York, Ontario and Western Railroad, a major railroad that struggled financially through two world wars only to give up and close in the late 1950s. Along Green Flats Road one can still see remains of the railroad's coal flats and the rusted machines of the old economy. This collection of songs represents a journey to a special place - a place where we go to dream and wonder what life was like before our time.
