20th Anniversary Album
The Haverford School Notables The Notables are a select a cappella group of 19 voices, chosen anew each spring from the 60-voice Glee Club. Members are chosen for quality of voice, out-going personality, high academic standing, dedication to hard work, and their ability to work as team players. The group performs a wide spectrum of musical styles, including classical, sacred, and popular. The Notables sing nearly 40 concerts each year in a variety of venues including neighboring schools, churches and synagogues, hotels and nursing homes, school functions, and private engagements. In recent years, the group has performed at the Academy of Music and Verizon Hall with the Orpheus Club of Philadelphia. They were the keystone of the Glee Club's several tours of Europe, including Munich, Solothurn (Switzerland), Vienna, Salzburg, London, St. David's (Wales), Milan, Venice, Florence and Rome. In June of 2000, the Notables spent a week in Paris, France, where they sang a Mass in D for Men's Voices composed by Michael Stairs at the Church of St. Pierre du Gros Caillou. They also performed to an overflow congregation at The American Church in Paris where Jesse Jackson was the preacher of the day. In June of 2006, they again toured France with the Bryn Mawr Girlchoir and sang in the Abbey Mondaye (Norbertine monks), Chartres Cathedral, The Madeleine, and Notre Dame Cathedral to a standing room only congregation. This forthcoming season they are scheduled to sing at Longwood Gardens and Princeton University Chapel. The Notables are conducted by Michael Stairs, well-known organist in the Delaware Valley. This year, in addition to regular concerts in the area and those with the Philadelphia Orchestra, he is presenting concerts in Dallas, Texas and Pompano Beach, Florida. Two of Mr. Stairs CD's at the mighty Longwood Gardens organ may be purchased on iTunes. Current members of the group are: Ryan Lind, Joe Cilio (officers), Cole Chiumento, Tripp Wickersham, Colin Heffernan, Andrew Helber, Peter Rogers, Gardiner Kirby, Zach Rego, Maleek Young, Jamie Halloran, Zach Gonzalez-Ruskiewicz, Rafic Melhem, Rob Solmssen, Alex Cyr, Tom Hopkins, Robinson Schwenke, Dilan Swain, and Remi Yang.
