Faith in You
I grew up singing in church and being told I put too much emotion into my songs. I soon realized that there really isn't much point in music without emotion. The first three songs on my "Faith in You" CD represent my musings about what I think or hope our source of love and light is. These are love songs to my creator. The fourth track, entitled "Unbroken Spirit" was written as a tribute to the Native American people and originally meant to enhance the promotion of a book in which my father did several amazing portraits of Native American film stars. I included the song on my CD because it's a reminder of the importance of not letting anyone break your spirit - no matter what. The fifth track "Mother's Song" is something I wrote for my mother to get her to speak to me again. Ha! No really. It was part of my journey back into my family after a necessary breaking away to establish my own identity. We all do this, in one way or another, right? -- some more dramatic, some less. I'm very dramatic. I needed, through "Mother's Song" to go back and acknowledge how much my mother's love has shaped me as a person and to help bring that love into my own intention to nurture my children and help them be the best that they can be. "Standing By Your Side", the sixth track was inspired by the passing of a dear friend. I hope she likes it. She had such a fun, energetic personality and a laugh that you could hear across a room and be drawn to instantly. When I recorded this song I was thinking about all the people I miss having here on earth with me. Sometimes I can feel their energy and it makes it all the more real that I will see them again. The seventh song on the album is entitled "Empty". If you've ever loved and lost you know how this feels. It hurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrts. I've been at the bottom of that pit and it's therapeutic to sing a sad song sometimes, so if it makes you feel better - sing along. "Hold Me" is about a healing love that hopefully everyone finds at some point in their lives. I personally wrote it to get my husband to speak to me again. No, just kidding. I didn't have the money for a real birthday present that year so... hey if you're a writer you can empathize! If these songs are even half as much fun for you to hear as they were for me to record, you're in for a great time. Thanks for listening! Heaven.
