Product Notes

'Slim' Henry Broussard, veteran of the Los Angeles blues & R&B scene of the late 50's and early 60's, revives his distinctive guitar style for a selection of blues and jazz standards, classic early rock & roll, and a taste of country. In the annals of re-discovered blues musicians, 'Slim' Henry is a diamond in the rough. His guitar licks take us back to the smoky clubs of Los Angeles in the late 50's and early 60's, where sets included jazz standards like 'Satin Doll', and then rocked the house with 'Lucille'. Born 1935 in Cheek, just outside of Beaumont TX, Henry learned to play Creole music from his uncles and grandfather. Once he heard the electric guitar at the age of 16, as they say, the rest was history. In 1955 at the age of 20, Henry moved to California, and started writing original songs, recording as a sideman, and playing at local clubs. After awhile he gave up music and began a career as fiberglass fabricator and supporting his family, eventually moving to Las Vegas. Currently, 'Slim' Henry is reviving his music career with a collection of covers backed by his new combo 'The Good 'Uns'. Look for originals from "Slim" Henry soon!
