Sending a Message
HERMES is a Jazz-Fusion Quartet based out of Las Vegas, Nevada. The group was conceived by leader Chris Hermes in 2000 and is currently enjoying their first release Sending A Message. The Group's sound is inspired by fusion groups of the 70's and 80's such as Miles Davis, Weather Report, and others, blending with modern musical ideas giving the group a unique sound. BAND BIO CHRIS HERMES-Acoustic and Electric Basses Chris, a graduate of the Lawrence Conservatory of Music, has worked extensively as a bassist in all genres throughout the United States. In the Midwest, Chris enjoyed working and recording with the Jeff Santaga Trio, Sam Brooker, Second Sight, and 4th Edition. In Las Vegas Chris became the bassist for the world fusion group Coalition and the Tony Branco Trio. He also has performed extensively with Raj Rathor, Stefan Karlson, the Stan Mark Band, Uncle Sugar and the Sweet Daddies, the Malher Festival Orhcestra, and has done shows with Jade Productions, and Las Vegas Strip freelance work. TONY BRANCO-Piano/Keys Tony's playing is firmly grounded in the Philadelphia jazz tradition having enjoyed a long association with Miles Davis alumnus, 'Philly' Joe Jones in Le Grand Prix. Tony was pianist for the David Ellis Orchestra and played for then Vice President George Bush and Princess Grace of Monaco, among others. He was also music director for A&M recording aritst Collins and Collins. Tony is the founder of Coalition which has to recent releases and the Tony Branco Trio. JOE THOMASULA-Drums Joe, an original member of Coalition and the Tony Branco Trio, initially began working in the Greater New York area, playing for many of the jazz groups there. He then continued drumming and percussion work for various showbands performing on the Las Vegas Strip. JAMIE BECKMAN-Saxes/EWI Jamie, the newest member of HERMES, also is a graduate of the Lawrence Conservatory of Music. While in Milwaukee, Jamie enjoys playing the sax for blues, funk and jazz groups at festivals such as Summerfest and in the local scene. Jamie has performed on several albums and worked with groups such as The Us Project, Soul Mine, and many other groups as both a recording and performing artist.
