On the Corner
When Hilde Hefte released her first solo-album the jazz magazine Down Beat wrote: 'Hilde Hefte is making waves on the Norwegian scene'. ... And she is still making waves with her honest, personal and intimate vocal-sound. Her first CD was a tribute to Chet Baker, ''Round Chet's Midnight', and it was named the album of the year in Norways largest jazz-magazine Jazznytt. Her second CD was a tribute to the fantasic pianist Bill Evans, 'Playsong - the music of Bill Evans', and as well as her first CD, this became the album of the year in Norway. On The Corner is her 4th CD and Hilde Hefte calles it her 'memory-album'. The reviews have been fantastic. All the largest Newspapers in Norway gave it dice-trow 5 and used words like: 'What a memory-album'. All About Jazz wrote: 'Hefte's presentation is elegant and playful, and always personal'. (...)'On these songs Hefte proves herself an intelligent singer who can feel and play with the lyrics, melody and rhythm'. Nordic Sound (Germany): 'Hilde Hefte knows how to sing, has got class, and is not behaving like a diva.' (...) 'sophisticated, in an old fashion way, with evening-dress and tuxido'. Hilde Hefte is not a beginner. She has studied music at the highly respected Barratt-Dues Music Intitute. She has been playing piano, guitar, alto saxophone, Bb clarinet and studied acting. And she was for one periode teacher at Vest-Agder Music Conservatorium. She is what they call the musicians musician.
