4-Play ( Shawn O'Dell ) and 2-Deep ( Drew Courtney ) make up the group Illi. The name was constructed from the State, which they are native to, Illinois. In his early teens, 4-Play began writing Lyrics and making his own Music which led to the release of his first CD. 2-Deep started out writing Lyrics in High School and joined 4-Play where he was featured on a few songs of the Album 'Give It All I Got', released by 4-Play and the Album sold out at local Record Shops. For a year the Duo split up and went their separate ways. Meanwhile 4-Play started to work on a new Album. 2-Deep returned and they made the Album 'Steel City'. 4-Play is currently a junior at Southern Illinois University and is majoring in Business Marketing and Administration. 2-Deep plans on attending College this spring and major in Arts and Science. Now the group has improved dramatically and even are producing their own beats and recording it all in their own Studio, ILL LIFE Studios. Even though they are only 19 and 20 Years old, they are very professional and plan expanding Hip Hop and introducing a new genre of music. Their first major release, the Album 'Steel City' contains 17 tracks and has hit stores in July 2003 and has since then continuously been the most sold Album of a local act in the area. The Album includes a track entitled 'Smile', a remake of the Hall & Oates Hit Single 'Sara Smile' and features Ol' Skool, formerly signed to Universal Records. Illi is now working on their 3rd Album and several Shows across the US.. The group is starting to get recondition from Radio Stations across the country as well.
