In the Tradition is the unique Jazz Band that hails from Detroit, Michigan. They were the surprise of the 2004 Detroit International Jazz Festival. Rooted in Bebop and the Blues, they manage to stay true to these genres while exploring the influence of the Global Afrikan rhythmic experience. The result is a fresh take on the universal Afrikan Musical Language, one that is completely original and unique in it's approach. At the same time, their allegiance to bebop is steadfast and clear. Definitely a qunique approach to the exploration of their Afrikan Musical Heritage.
