Ivy Shadiah Hylton is an internationally known sacred performance artist, holistic psychotherapist, recording artist, and inspirational speaker, with over twenty four years of experience. As a practicing psychotherapist, producer, recording artist, lecturer and concert vocalist, Ivy is on the cutting edge of a new paradigm for psychological, physiological and emotional healing. Just as her relative, Marian Anderson broke through the barriers of racism to dazzle the world with her powerful and spirit filled voice and music, Ivy is creating music and sound that goes beyond the present use of music, charting a path to new musical practices for this new Millennium. Ivy has dedicated her life to empowering people towards the realization of inner peace, personal wholeness, total balance and harmony through music. A pioneer of holistic psychotherapy, Shadiah has served as guest lecturer and field instructor in the School of Social Work for the University of Maryland, University of Alabama, Hong Kong University, Lincoln University, Howard University and Delaware State University. She has published articles for local magazines and professional associations and is a member of The National Association of Social Workers and past President of the METRO Chapter 2002~2004. Ivy is also a member of the National Association of Black Social Workers and serves as one of the lead instructors for the National African Centered Social Work Academy. Ivy has written her first book entitled Journey into Inner Peace " Relaxation and Meditation Healing Rituals': a guide to mental clarity, relieving stress, finding serenity and inner peace. Ivy has been the opening act for several notable best selling authors. She opened for Iyanla Vanzants, book tour, Tapping the Power Within, African American Women on Tour, as well as for Deepak Chopra, Marion Williamson, Dannion Brinkley, J. California Cooper, Ruby Dee and Sonia Sanchez to name a few. She has served as a Sacred Sound Healing Circle facilitator for Inner Visions Worldwide Spiritual Life Maintenance Center, Inc., in Silver Spring, Maryland, the home of Iyanla Vanzant., writer, lecturer and television host. She also served as a resident wellness consultant for Sister Space and Books, where she received much of her inspiration and encouragement for publishing. Ivy has been featured as a workshop facilitator for the Washington National Cathedral Sacred Circles Conference held in 2001 & 2005. She is also an advisor and featured Complementary Health Practioner in the NIH & Health Mark Multimedia research project entitled, Complementary Cancer Care: Your Healing Plan CD-ROM. In 1989 founded Psychological Support Services Institute in Washington, D.C., a freestanding mental health clinic, and served as Co-Owner and Clinical Director for eight years. She is now CEO and Director of Serenity Healing Arts Welnness education and Holistic Services, located in Temple Hills, MD, a new paradigm for stress management, optimal health and integrative treatment systems. Shadiah has also recently entered into a consulting & Training business with her Husband Saleem Hylton, Youth & Families in Crisis, LLC. Ivy has performed European concert tours and has traveled the United States performing and lecturing with the Whole LIFE EXPO and Wisdom Television. She has performed with Bro. Ah's World Music Ensemble and Sounds of Awareness. She is a member of the Washington Performing Arts Society and currently enrolled in the American Institute for Holistic Theology pursing a Doctorate in Divinity.
