Yearning for the Sun
Songwriter Jack Hines is also a working musician and music teacher. He has played around the San Francisco Bay Area for years as a bassist, recording and performing in a wide variety of musical styles including Rock, Jazz, Latin Jazz, Classical, Cuban, Brazilian, Peruvian, and more. Over the last seven years he has focused the majority of his musical energy on writing, singing, and recording his own music. Other songwriters who have influenced him over the years are Sting, Sarah McLachlan, Tom Waits, Shawn Colvin, Joni Mitchell, The Beach Boys, David Sylvian, and many others. Jack's music is a blend of the many different musical experiences that have made him the musician he is today. A poet at heart, he draws from his own life experiences, and those of others, to create the stories he tells in his songs. Jack has also worked extensively with renowned nature sound recordist Bernie Krause, and includes elements of that work in his music.
