Biography: Jackson Monsour is a singer/songwriter currently living in Bedford, Pennsylvania; a small town in the south-central part of the state. Jackson was born in State College, PA on February 8th, 1979. He was raised in Bedford for most of his life, where he began his musical performances at the age of 6. His first 'gig' was at the Messiah Church. He played "Michael Row your Boat Ashore." From an early age, Jackson knew that he wanted to perform. In his adolescent years, he began writing and performing his own music. He fronted two high school bands, Fat Free and The Impostors, both of which released independent recordings. While fronting the band Fold33 throughout his college days at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, PA Jackson continued to write original solo material and honed his guitar skills under the teachings of Jim Ferla, the world renowned classical guitarist from the Carnegie Mellon University. After college Jackson took a break from organized music, packed his bags and bag-packed western Europe. Upon returning, he moved to Key West, FL where he performed at Hogs Breath Saloon and The Lazy Gecko, both solid music establishments on Duvall Street. He returned to Pittsburgh later that year and reunited with Fold33 guitarist John Johnson in the band Sundown and played locally around the Pittsburgh area, but in the winter of 2003 Jackson got an offer from his parents to return to his hometown and work for the family farming, rental, and vacation home businesses. He accepted and has since used this occupational freedom to inspire his musical endeavors while trying to reach his goal of success in the music business. In the spring of 2005, Jackson released his first solo album 'Anywhere But Here' which has sold over 600 copies to date. 'Willard's Song', 'Big Fish', and 'Stay Away' have become fan favorites. In January of 2007, Jackson got the opportunity to perform on the Carnival Miracle cruise ship and toured Mexico playing for hundreds of patrons 6 nights a week. The experience was a good one, but inspired Jackson to get back to shore and work on another original album. 'July 5th' will be released in late July of 2007 and will be a completely different musical experience than his first release. It will be an all acoustic album that will appeal to fans of reggae, pop, and folk. While his main focus is performing original music in venues and bars in hopes of landing a recording contract, Jackson has also performed formal wedding ceremonies in Key West, Florida and Bedford, PA. Seeing Jackson Monsour perform live is an entertaining, unique, and memorable experience. He has the ability to relate to any audience and performance situation and this shows through in every Jackson experience. For booking please contact Jackson directly.
