Savior of the World
Many choirs through the years have performed this moving cantata. Audiences weep and feel deep emotions as the divinity of Jesus Christ is attested to through words and music. It is a beautiful retelling of the life and ministry of the Savior taken from the New Testament. From a musical accounting of his birth, "Christ the Lord Is Born," to the song "His Little Ones," we feel of His tender love for little children and all mankind. The strength of the music builds as the choir sings of Christ driving the money changers from the temple, ending with the joyful praise "Hosannah to the Son of David." The song "On the Cross" is the deeply moving account of Jesus on the Cross, with his mother weeping at His feet. In this song the words and music fill with emotions as the choir sings "in heaves of grief an angry earth cried! The Savior of the world has died!" The song "He Lives, For We Saw Him" proclaims His glorious resurrection. In final tribute we hear His plea, "If ye love me, keep my commandments." Piano/vocal songbook for SATB Choir, Soloists and Narrators also available.
