To say God picked the one least likely is an understatement. Having never been allowed into choir class in high school, and having the tendency to want to just "hide in the closet with a box of Bon Bons" than go out in public, Jaydi questioned God's calling in her life. But, undeniably, the Lord had already begun speaking to Jaydi through worship as a little girl growing up in her small Alaskan church. As early as eight years old, Jaydi sang in church services and special events. At fourteen, she tagged along with her dad to Sunday morning worship practices. With a tambourine in her hand, she became the whole rhythm section of the band. At sixteen she picked up her dad's guitar, and on the cold, dark Alaskan evenings taught herself how to play from old worship lead sheets. Jaydi continually felt God's calling toward worshipping Him, as she also began to grow too comfortable behind a guitar in the back of a worship band. When her and her husband Rick were told that they might never have children, Jaydi turned to her one coping mechanism, writing songs to the Lord. "Run to You" became the first song she wrote in trying to deal with her anger and frustration toward what God was doing in her life. "When the world has all forgotten. When the storm has took it's toll. When the valley's length has gotten to this poor and troubled soul." These were the words that Jaydi prayed to God with. More than just a song, it was her cry. The Lord blessed Jaydi and Rick with a son. But when hard times fell again, Jaydi fumbled for a pen and on the back of a crumpled receipt wrote the words to "Wonderful, Beautiful Maker", based on Psalm 139. She wanted to choose to not only see herself as God's own creation, but also acknowledge the Lord as Creator. "You should record an album". Rick told Jaydi after she had compiled a journal full of over 30 songs. "Yeah right." Was her first response. As a worship leader this sounded exciting, but fear and doubt had already set in. However, the Lord had other plans and in the spring of 2008 Jaydi began working with her Producer, Kevin Hodges of Northwest Recording Studios. In the seasons of her life Jaydi has seen the Lord work in mighty ways. When a prophet came to her church and relayed to her the message of "Sing louder! You sound like a mouse!" Jaydi knew the Lord wasn't going to let her run and hide. Her single "Pure" was written during her time as worship leader for the girl's retreat "Just 4 Chix". Her debut album is set to release in 2009. Jaydi is currently the worship leader of women's ministries at her home church.
