Bay Area Producer Jeff Jabz finally disperses the veil with his debut album Sine Language. This 11 song full length boasts a mixture of tasteful instrumentals and hard hitting beats with guest appearences bringing you a musical soundscape of some East Bay Grease Hip Hop. Each track is calculated around the production from the beat wizard himself. 'Break the Cycle' starts the album off with a melodic and conscious solution for the social conditions of the streets. Veteran emcee P. Way (Bored Stiff/3 Shades of Rhythm) sounds wise beyond his years laying down truthful commentary while accompanied by the sensational harmonies of Wade Love. Combined with the piano driven rhythm, this is definitely Cali Soul in it's purest form. The laid back groover, 'Mermaids in the Bay' is my personal favorite. Jeff brings out his producer charm and gives us 3 and a half minutes of sweet butter. The lush keys, bubbly bassline, and 2 step drum combo oozes Golden Gate summer love! Ladies take heed. The melancholy 'Tell the Game Goodbye' hits home with an unsuspecting Equipto (Bored Stiff/3 Shades of Rhythm/Horns and Halos) who's given all he could give to the rap game, and feels the need to bow out gracefully. Jeff scores this track beautifully with hauntingly epic flute play and mysterious guitar riffs. The last track is the compelling 'Don't Do It!'. This dark and grimacing track speaks on the topic of suicide, a topic rarely discussed, yet emcee/producer Jeff Jabz engages this subject with poise and pain. The highlight of this song are Da Kidz, who rant 'Don't Do It!' throughout the chorus giving them the Guardian Angel role. Sine Language is a classic hip hop album. Period. This album is short and sweet. Perhaps Jeff Jabz may give us more than 11 songs on the next run, but all in all it's a very invigorating debut. Don't sleep on this, it's sure to satisfy your good music hunger pains. Guest spots include: P.Way, Wade Love, 2Mex, Aquarius, Equipto, Z-Man, and many more!
