All About You Jesus
Jeffrey Wayne Odom was born on 8-8-68 at 8:08am in Louisiana where he was raised by loving Christian parents. 'My life was full of love and piano lessons', says Jeff as he remembers his childhood. During his childhood is also when Jeff gave his heart to Christ. 'It was during a Sunday night church service when I was about 10 years old. It just hit me that I needed Jesus in my life and I needed Him to forgive my sins. It was an emotional night and one that I'll never forget.' Growing up, Jeff studied classical piano. 'While other kids were on the playground during lunch, I was taking piano lessons in the high school auditorium.' Although Jeff received a lot of 'ribbing' for his music lessons, it didn't take long for people to realize his potential in the music world. 'I began singing in church when I was about five years old. I couldn't see over the pulpit, so my Dad would bring up a chair so I could stand on it to see the congregation and sing into the pulpit microphone.' For several years after, Jeff continued to praise God in his local church, eventually joining a traveling Christian singing group for teens called 'Young Believers'. He toured the tri-state area and also traveled to Southern California, where 'Young Believers' performed at Sea World. But this was only the beginning of where his talents would lead him, and where God would allow him to go. After high school, Jeff received a voice scholarship to Louisiana Tech University and transferred to Southern Arkansas University (SAU) a year later. At SAU, he joined the University's performance-recruiting troop, 'Encore', where his on-stage antics and showmanship became the life of the production. 'They always made sure I had the longest microphone cord whenever I sang. They knew that I couldn't stay away from the audience when I performed - and they were right.' Jeff would take any chance he had to jump into the audience and get them involved with the show. During these years, Jeff also joined a local country and southern rock band that toured through Louisiana, Texas and Arkansas. In 2000, his passion for music took him to Las Vegas where he began playing at clubs and casinos. Although Jeff's talents and personality helped him make a living, life wasn't as great as he had hoped it would be. 'I gained a tremendous amount of performance experience in Vegas, but something kept telling me I was in the wrong place and playing the wrong music. It was a struggle and I didn't know what to do, so I pretty much gave up on music all together.' But praise God; this isn't the end of the story. 'You know when you hit rock bottom and the only place to look is up? That was me.' Jeff prayed for a new chance at life and shortly after, met the love of his life, Stephanie, and later, they were married. About a month after Jeff and Stephanie were married, they moved to Stephanie's home state of Connecticut. Then, much to the surprise and delight of his mother, Jeff returned to singing in churches, holding Bible studies and working anywhere he could find an opportunity to minister for Jesus. 'God gave me a second chance to use the talents He's blessed me with for His purpose. I had all but given up on music, but God knew better.' Currently, Jeff is working on a studio project with a CD release of ten original, Contemporary Christian songs coming in 2004. Jeff has already begun gathering a following of fans and supporters with his ministry and this number grows with every performance. Jeff has recently joined forces with Vision Quest Music Group and, together, they are planning the release of Jeff's first single to national Christian radio. Vision Quest will also manage the marketing and promotions aspect of Jeff's career as he takes his talents for the Lord to the next level. 'Each new day reveals blessings beyond all my expectations and I thank God everyday for His grace and mercy.'
