Jenn Stang Live at the Grape Street Philadelphia
It's no wonder the music of Jenn Stang has such an inherent global perspective and the gentle seasoning of world cultures, past and present. By the time she settled in Philadelphia at age 11, she already had lived in Europe, South America and Canada. And now, on the eve of her 20th birthday, Jenn is finally celebrating the performing and songwriting career for which she has been preparing all her life - with the simultaneous release of a live CD and DVD, both titled LIVE AT THE ... GRAPE STREET PHILADELPHIA, on Stairway Records. Making things even sweeter, her arrival as a recording artist comes just as Jenn has earned her U.S. citizenship. Coming from a musical family, Jenn absorbed a wide range of music constantly playing at home. Particularly inspired by music of different times and cultures, Jenn has naturally fused Celtic, Indian, and African sources onto a pop/rock canvas. Jenn is especially fortunate to have been able to develop her musicianship alongside her 'kid' brother, budding guitar hero Emmett, who frequently collaborates with his sister on all facets of writing and recording. Deeply influenced by Eastern World, and Celtic Music, Flamenco and Latin rock and fluent in Spanish and French, Jenn is naturally drawn to the music of Peter Gabriel, Sting, Tori Amos, Mayte Martin and Gigi. Jenn performs as piano-vocal soloist and incorporates years of dance training as singer-dancer backed by her new band. Jenn has been a mainstay on Delaware Valley stages for the past year. She began studying music and dance at an early age, and added acting and vocal training in her early teens. Jenn has studied with some of the world's most prestigious institutions, including the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, the National Ballet School in Toronto, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Ballet. Crafting her first recordings have been an incredible experience for Jenn, and she's grateful to have had the opportunity with some of Philadelphia's top production talent in the process. LIVE AT THE ... GRAPE STREET PHILADELPHIA was produced by Skip Drinkwater (Jennfer Love Hewitt, Sheryl Crow, Moby), mixed by Phil Nicolo (Train, Fugees, Incubus) and Skip Drinkwater, engineered by Phil Nicolo, and mastered at Studio 4 in Conshohocken, PA.
