In the Service of the King
In the Service of the King, by Jim Heider Notes from the artist This project is unmistakably designed to glorify my God and Savior Jesus Christ who has radically changed my heart and given me a new purpose in life. It is amazing to me to see how powerful and awesome our God is and how everything has fallen so neatly into place to make this project happen. This work is the realization of a dream that began many years ago that I never thought possible. Christ has radically changed my heart, He has given me a new purpose in life, and He has made a way for me. I 'once was lost, but now am found.' God, through His Son Jesus, had mercy on me and washed away all my sin. I truly am a 'trophy' of His mercy and grace. The title of this album was inspired by a public event that I attended not long ago. I was amazed at the excessive behavior that the masses were engaged in. In the midst of over two hundred and fifty thousand people, I felt strangely alone and began to wonder, 'What does God see from His vantage point? Does it break His heart to see so many lost and confused people drowning in self-abusive behavior and living from one self-gratifying moment to the next?' As I looked around, I thought, 'Where will I be found when He returns?' I want to be counted with the saved. With those who are bound to Him through the awesome changing power of the cross. I want to be found in the service of the King. To be in His service quite simply means to seek after Him diligently and do exactly what He puts before me. In essence: 'To live justly, to love mercy and walk humbly with God' (Mic 6:8). As my good friend, Jose Alvarez, has said, 'God has a specific blueprint for our lives and it is up to us to find out exactly what that is and to pursue it passionately and with purpose.' Special Thanks I have had so much fun working on this project and there are many that I must thank: my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, my beautiful and faithful wife Cindy, and my wonderful, amazing son Joseph. Steve Fish, my co-producer, whose many suggestions have made it to the final cut and Todd Smith of Label X who mixed, engineered, performed on the project, and who believed in my music more than I did. Todd, this project would not have happened without your amazing skills and talents. Thank you Joe and Cheryl Leffler (you are awesome and talented servants of the King) and Kevin Harrub (you have a heart of gold). Thanks also to Jose and Mary Alvarez of Safari Through the Word Ministries, Inc. (you are tremendous people of God). Thanks to all the wonderful people at New Song Christian Fellowship in Louisville, Ky. Also, Pastor Jeff Lamont, to you I am grateful for your inspiring messages that are reflected in my lyrics. Mom and Dad, you have always been there for me. To all the Heider's: Beth, Kathy, Gerard, and in loving memory of Mary and Paul. Dave D, Johnny McT, Jerry, Mark, Tom and Mike Oz, and all the 'Cresters'. And anyone else I may have forgotten to mention, I thank you all. With the release of this album a new record label is being launched, TenTalent Records, LLC, and I believe that a new ministry will be born. I hope and pray that you will be blessed by the music and the words of praise and worship. Most importantly, I hope that you will be drawn closer into a relationship with God in the person of Jesus Christ and be challenged to be found... In the Service of the King.
