Blues for Skip
'Blues for Skip' is a collection of songs about or related to my long time friend and companion The Amazing Skippy. Skip and I toured most of the US and Canada together and he was often seen on stage right next to me. He was present for the majority of my recording sessions but passed away before this CD was completed. Aside from presence of Skip I was joined in studio by Pete Astor and Martin Perez, two incredible guitarists, Melinda Acevedo on bass and Britney Johnson and Jarrod Elmore on drums. The band Left on Harvard also joind me on the tunes 'DEM Blues' and 'Sugar in the Raw'. Eastman Curtis also added his percussion talents on 'Sugar in the Raw'. Even with the varied influances of Ravi Shankar (Sitar Player) and C.P.E. Bach, I still consider Kenny Burrell, Phil Keaggy and the Beatles to be my biggest influences. I think this is evident in the strong melodies of my compositions. This CD gave me the freedom to delve a little more deeply into the blues as well as show off some of my other influances. It gave me an excuse to pull out my Resonator Guitar and play some 'slide' blues and even use my Sitar on 'Sugar in the Raw'
