JOHNNY DOCK ALIVE This was truly a concert of concerts. The live show was not only recorded with state of the art equipment and by the best in the industry but was also shot in video format by World-renowned cinematographer, Declan Quinn-whose credits include music videos and documentaries for MTV, VH1 and top bands such as U2 and R.E.M. Not your typical songwriter and performer, Johnny Dock is the alter-ego creation of Bucks County musician, architectural designer and restaurateur, John Franklin, whose Johnny Dock character and songs are a tribute to that intrepid soul he calls the 'True American Hero,' to whom he dedicated his first CD by the same name. Franklin says his songs are tribute to the individuals who laid their wilder dreams aside to provide a stable and secure environment for their loved ones and are now ready to pick up where they left off. 'These are the true American heroes,' he proclaims. Franklin's vision about Dock was conceived in the idea that there is a persona like Johnny Dock in everyone. "It's apart of the human psyche, the fantasies you acted out when you were a kid, the part of you that dreams about being an astronaut, or a world leader, or even a rock star. The part of you that wants to find that perfect mate, or wants to recapture the values of the philosophy student of your youth that slowly slipped away over the ever-changing seasons of time. It's in the child part of every ones nature. No mater how old we get, or how much we do, it's always there, waiting to embrace all the preciousness of life". John Franklin is no stranger to the idea. It's his story, too, and Johnny Dock's music avows that it's never too late to live the dream. A lifetime musician, Franklin's songs draw upon both his restless years as a hitchhiking troubadour as well as his experiences as a father and husband. According to Franklin, "I've seen a lot of amazing things in my lifetime, but at the end of the day it's seeing what wonderful kids I've got that means the most to me." His wife, Linda, who has been singing alongside him since the early days, joins him in the band. Emmy Award-nominated creative director, Greer Griffith, will also be on hand to provide art direction for the video recording session. Ms. Griffith has worked extensively with the major television broadcast and cable networks and is currently involved with a T.V. special celebrating the first five years of Saturday Night Live. Footage from the concert will be used in a music video and in a documentary by Quinn tracing the evolution of Johnny Dock and his vision of the 'True American Hero.'
