Possibilities is an eclectic mix of original songs. From high energy rockers like Gene Pool, to jazzy stuff like Turtle Dove, to the sparse mix of Sometimes Blues, Jon shows his ability to sing whatever he writes, and to write whatever he feels. Trumpet, clarinet, piano, and many other odd instruments accompany the standard drums, bass, and guitar. Much of the disc was recorded analog, underlining a warm, fat tone that cradles the ear from start to finish. The hickjazz philosophy brings a fresh approach to the old school sounds when jazz made sense, and rock was neither dark nor heavy. John Hiatt meets Johnny Hartmann. Oh Brother Where art Thou meets Leon Redbone. Hick meets Jazz.
