JON-Q. Jon-Q. creates tracks in Jamaica Queens, New York City. His hometown is known for such talented entertainers as James Brown, Run DMC & Jam Master Jay, L.L. Cool J., Count Basie & many more. At an early age Jon was encouraged by his mother, who sang with the church & his father, who acted & appeared in such films as 'The Seven Ups,' 'The French Connection,' & 'Claudine.' At the age of 6 Jon played the Bongos in his older brother's band. Together they performed at High Schools, Churches, Parks, Fundraisers & Telethons. Oher inspirations include Quincy Jones, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Dizzy Gillespie, Patty Labelle, Diana Ross & Ramsey Lewis. At age 16 young Q.(Elquan) aquired his 1st set of turntables as a result of his stint with McDonalds. He became interested in composing lyrics & creating music. Subsequent to this period, he recorded his 1st single entitled; 'HIP-HOP PHENOMINAL' on Zakia records (a subsidiary of Profile Records). Q has worked with Prince Markie Dee (previously with the 'Fat Boys'); Corey Rooney (who has worked with such artists as Mariah Carey & Mary J. Blige); Brian Chin (who worked A&R for Chemistry Records distributed by Mercury Records); & Engineer: Andre Debourge ('Record Lord'). Jon-Q.'s expertise is in production & arrangement. He has worked on such studio equipment as the SSL & Neeve mixing boards. He creates music on the Korg Triton music workstation/sampler & the EMU system, SP 1200 sampler/percussion machine. He has worked in such recording studios as, 'The Hit Factory,' 'Power Play,' 'Sony Studios,' 'Battery,' 'Unique,' 'Bayside Sound,' & 'Cheung King Studios.'
