Hey everybody! Thanks for checking out my new CD, 'This Far'. If you already know about my music I appreciate your continuing support. If you are new to my music (or just browsed your way in) I hope you enjoy it and I would love to see you at any upcoming shows. For those of you who don't know anything about me, here's a little info. I was born and raised in a small town called Walnut in north central Illinois. I've been into music since a very young age. My dad was a professional musican (traveled all around the country playing guitar and singing) and my mom is a pianist, so there was always a lot of music around the house for my brothers and I to listen to. So it was kind of natural for me to gravitate to that aspect of life. I spent a majority of my high school years pretending I was Stevie Ray Vaughan and played a lot of very loud electric guitar (to the dismay of my parents). It wasn't until my senior year of high school and freshman year of college that I started getting into this acoustic form of art. Since then there's been no turning back! I've been constantly digging deeper into the singer/songwriter roots for inspiration and musical guidence. It started with Caedmon's Call and Bebo Norman, then drifted to the likes of David Wilcox, Shawn Colvin, John Gorka, and James Taylor among others. It has all developed to a point where I am able to use these influences to cultivate a sound that is familar to you, the listener, and yet has a fresh twist that makes it unique. This CD is comprised of 11 self-penned songs that were put together, for the most part, from December of 1999 to April 2001. tThe recording was done at House of the Storm Studios, the home studio of my basement, mostly in February of 2001. Every instrument you hear on the album was played or programmed by my own hands. The signifigance of the title 'This Far' is rather simple. All of the songs included on this CD are snapshots of my experience or feelings at that spacific moment. The songs are stories that have shaped my life and brought to the point I am at now. They have collectively brought me this far. Once again I would like to thank you for checking out my music. Enjoy.
