Two California kids in the Spring of 2003, searching for more to do than just sit on ex-pat bar stools in New York City, were compelled to start what would later become Joshua Lanes. Johnnie Anthony and Scott Garry spent their formative years in the High Desert, listening to everything from Minor Threat to Pavement. Once in New York, Johnnie and Scott often found themselves on a Friday nights in Scott's basement level flat, immersed in all things musical. These Friday night get-togethers soon spawned rehearsals, which soon turned into recording sessions. These recording sessions resulted in an album: Old Woman Springs Road. The release of Old Woman Springs Road inspired both Johnnie and Scott, only in different directions. An old woman told Johnnie that he needed to return to the West. Scott's heart still belonged to the City, so he remained in New York. Once back in Southern California, with fresh energy, Johnnie delved into his writing and began to further explore his musical landscapes. It wasn't long before Johnnie had new material and was itching to turn Joshua Lanes into a full functioning band. What Johnnie didn't know was that in the meantime his little sister had been cultivating her own distinctive and powerful sound on the bass........ After much persistence, Johnnie convinced Elisa (Sissy) Anthony to join Joshua Lanes in Spring 2004. They immediately began work recording a second album, JL Notes, with drummer Ian MacLeod. With JL Notes, Joshua Lanes began to create an original sound. JL Notes is an intimate look into Joshua Lanes' core. It is their musical diary Upon nearing the completion of JL Notes in 2005, however, both Sissy and Johnnie still felt something was missing. This void was filled by the return of guitarist Scott Garry to California. Equipped with an all-electric line-up, capable of Mach 4, Joshua Lanes is now touring Southern California, and regularly playing shows in the Los Angeles area. With sensibilities in Punk, Pop, Rock, Ska, and Alt, Joshua Lanes is now delivering all-out concerts and preparing to record a definitive third album which intends on merging Johnnie's intense and personal songwriting with an engine that can take these expressions and light them up with bolts of pure Pop and Rock power for all the World to share.
