Sex Violence & Other Things American
Junkyphunk (pronounced 'junkie funk') is slightly different than other bands. A realitively new band on the music scene, it is the project of veteran musician, Philip Lee (a.k.a. 'Philly), who started playing guitar when he was 10 years old and became a multi-instrumentalist by his mid-20's. His profound love for the art of music has recently manifested itself within the muse of Junkyphunk. His influences range from jazz and classical all the way to industrial rock, metal and rap. His love of cultural diversity and it's various musical styles allow him to keep an open mind when blending the influences required to convey a message he wants to surface. Junkyphunk's sound largely consists of metal guitars, industrial beats, madman-style distorted vocals at the height of angst, psuedo-psycho keyboard melodies, popping bass lines and dark lyrical content. Each song is a different ride at a very weird amusement park. Sometimes it is poppy, sometimes it is aggressive, sometimes it is sexy and sometimes it is downright depressing, but it is ALL entertaining. Though largely electronically based, Junkyphunk has the style and feel of a live band. Plus, the music contains award winning lyrics (from garageband.com listeners) that are from the soul of an artist. No hype, totally independent and just a bit of attitude to make it interesting...welcome to the world of the Junkyphunk sound...come in, get hooked and become a 'junky' yourself...
