Meetings in Australia
In a flash-back of 20 years Kalle Kjemtrup now releases this album of songs, about a young mans travel through Australia. That kind of tour you often go for, when you are young, to discover the world and to discover yourself. To travel is to live, as the danish master of fairy-tales, H.C.Andersen says. Kalle Kjemtrup could say, to travel is to meet. The meeting with others and the meeting with yourself. Any meeting contains it's own seed for progress.Impressions from this journey has matured during the last 20 years, along with the usual on going activities in a normal life, such as work, marriage and kids.Through this daily living, the essence of these meetings has concentrated to the state and form, in which they now appear. 12 stories about remarkable meetings, released in this musical shape, which Kalle Kjemtrup prefers to call "story-folk"."When I looked back and decided to work on these 20 years old memories, I realized how the progres of life, as a result of it's build-in neccessity, diciplin and meaning, made it possible for me, to create the songs in the way I wanted to. My intention is to focus at the meeting as an expression of life in it's pure essence, with all it's content of meaning and possibilities including both joy, seriousness, pain, vulnerability and unpredictability. Creativity, the ability to stay on the track and the courage to express your dreams and issues, have allways been the guiding lights in my efforts as a father, dramateacher and writer. The experience from living an ordinary life and the drive and desire to write, made these story-folksongs, about these old meetings, ready to be written. Time helped the content to concentrate and time helped to create the form.Writing to me is coherent with moments of wholenes, glimpses of harmony and flashes of happines - the feeling of being in a meeting with something original". Writing is like meeting another human being - a meeting with something bigger!
