Asiam: Living in the Forever Now
This was a very difficult project because it was on the heals of losing two people very dear to me my Mother and my best friend to cancer. I was committed however to not make it a dirge but to find hope in difficult situations we find ourselves in. I started off the CD with A Flower Grows a very upbeat mandolin driven tune focusing on the fact that good can be found in everything even the worst situations. Several of the songs are about God's nearness to us especially when we have lost our faith. Simple Purity is about our knowing deep down in our hearts that we were made for simplicity and that simplicity is found in the lap of God. One of my favorites is Too Late for Lullabies talking about a Fathers lament of missed opportunities with his children. The music is very upbeat and acoustic rock driven. This Dance is a song I wrote for my wife and speaks of Love being more than happy feelings and romantic notions but it runs much deeper than that to be real.
