Colours of Love
LINER NOTES from Kevin If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. - I Corinthians 13 (NIV) Love comes in many forms -- parents, spouses, children, friends; from family members to strangers afar; from simple things to indescribable acts; from random moments to life-long commitments. And this only begins defining love in it's purest form. Love's the topic of life - the topic of this CD. Each of these songs portrays love in different ways... to different people... for different reasons... in different eras. The differences between these songs are as distinctive as the keys in which they're played... The intensity with which they're interpreted... The style in how they're composed... and the passion in which they're performed. As you listen to this music, I hope memories fill your mind from days gone by, I pray love presents you with the grandest gifts, and I trust God will bless you all the days of your life with overly abundant love. [Kevin's signature here] Special Thanks from Kevin: To Mom & Dad, who consistently exhibit unconditional love in my life. The values, beliefs, and lessons you've taught me are based on God's love. I can never repay you for all you've done other than to live my life as a testimony of your love. Our family enjoys life to the fullest because of your commitment to Him and to each other. To Peggy H., a constant source of encouragement and support despite your own circumstances. You're a bright spot when life gets in the way of love. To my WOFF family and friends, our times of love are precious, and grow more meaningful each time we encounter each other. I'm awestruck at the impact our love has on our community, our county, and our culture. Let's keep sharing it wherever we go. To You, the Listener, for encouraging me to share my music with others. Your confidence in my abilities inspires me to delve deeper and reach higher when using music to express so many emotions. To John J., for capturing the essence of this project in pictures despite an aching back and pure white outfit (which managed to stay clean). To Jason F., you do stellar work with less-than-adequate resources. Your creativity and imagination serve as great catalysts for projects like this. And to Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior, you displayed the greatest love ever by laying down your life just for me. You created all music for your pleasure, and these songs, some even secular, stand as a testimony to your unwavering, unfathomable, and indescribable love for me. I'm grateful for your love, your patience, and your gift of music in my life. This project is dedicated to two family members who now enjoy the perfect love of Jesus Christ in heaven - my PaPaw Odell Collins and Uncle Mike Christian. Kevin recorded this project in October 2007 on a Yamaha Clavinova CVP208 direct to CD.
